devil’s rock cinema screenings in New Zealand

September 26th, 2011

When we started making The Devil’s Rock we were realistic enough to expect that the film would probably be a straight to DVD release, but after a small UK cinema release, including playing in Leicester Square (even if it was only for one night) we’re now into a 2 week run playing at 21 cinemas in New Zealand, far exceeding our expectations, and all thanks to the New Zealand distributor Vendetta and the NZ cinemas who have been good enough to back the film.

Here’s the full list of cinemas:

The Roxy, Miramar, Wellington

Reading Cinema, Courtney Place, Wellington.

Event Cinemas:

  • Auckland: Albany, Highland Park, Manukau, Newmarket, Queen Street, St Lukes, Westcity
  • Hamilton: Centre Place
  • New Plymouth
  • Wellington: Queensgate
  • Whangarei

Hoyts Cinemas:

  • Auckland: Botany Downs, Sylvia Park, Sylvia Park (La Premiere), Wairau Park
  • Dunedin: Octagon
  • Christchurch: Riccarton
  • Hamilton: Te Awa,  Te  Awa (La Premiere)

Not bad for a low budget little homegrown Kiwi film shot in 15 days.

And here’s a cheeky little tattoo (here modelled by crew member Gabriel Page) from the Hell Pizza tie in with the NZ release:

new zealand premiere – job done

September 24th, 2011
We pulled off the New Zealand premiere of The Devil’s Rock in style on Wednesday night at The Roxy Cinema, Miramar, which I have to say boasts one of the best sound systems I’ve ever heard.  The press were out in force with Gina Varela and myself doing an interview for TVNZ up at Wrights Hill Fortress earlier in the day – you can see that interview here, then 3 News were covering the premiere with interviews with myself and Matt Sunderland here.
Here are actress Gina Varela with myself and actor Karlos Drinkwater.
